Welcome to the Wyoming Health Council (WHC).
The WHC is a private, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Our mission is to assure access to thorough, high-quality, voluntary family planning and other health care services in Wyoming. We are committed to ensuring that everyone, including adolescents, can obtain family planning and reproductive health care, educational, counseling, and clinical services.
The focus areas of our work are:
Family Planning and Reproductive Health provided at community Family Planning Clinics:
- Providing confidential services including counseling and testing for pregnancy, STDs, STIs, and HIV; providing birth control methods and emergency contraception; engaging in health promotion and disease prevention.
- Male reproductive health services including STD and HIV prevention education counseling, testing, and referral; male clinical exams and referral; and financial assistance for permanent sterilization (vasectomies).
- Promoting maternal and child health and providing pre-conception education about how to plan ahead for a healthy pregnancy and baby.
- Providing community outreach and health education, including unintended pregnancy, HIV, STD, STI, and hepatitis prevention.
Risk Reduction work in partnership with the Wyoming Departments of Health and Education:
- Improving access to cancer screening and clinical resources.
- Reducing the rates of unintended pregnancy and HIV/STDs/STIs/hepatitis by providing training for community members.
- Promoting male involvement in risk reduction behaviors and preparing men to play a vital role in reducing rates of unintended pregnancy, HIV/STDs/STIs/hepatitis.
Wyoming Migrant Health Program, funded in part by the US Department of Health and Human Services:
- Improving the quality of migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families with high-quality primary and preventative health services.
- Providing referral and access to women's breast and cervical health care through the Wyoming Women's Wellness Program.

Welcome to the Wyoming Department of Health:
The mission of the Wyoming Department of Health is to promote, protect, and enhance the health of all Wyoming citizens. The Wyoming Department of Health is the primary state agency for providing health and human services. We administer programs maintaining the health and safety of all citizens of Wyoming and our primary approach in solving health problems is prevention. The Communicable Disease Section of the Preventive Health and Safety Division of the Wyoming Department of Health offers services across the HIV prevention, care, and treatment spectrum.
- HIV/AIDS Care Program/AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP): Provides persons living with HIV/AIDS access to comprehensive health and support services.
- Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA): Provides direct financial assistance to persons living with HIV disease to stabilize their living situation.
- HIV Prevention Program: Provides HIV testing and counseling, health education and risk reduction, public information, and funding for community based projects.
- Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Program: Provides screening for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis through our partner clinics, family planning offices, public health nursing clinics and community health centers; partner notification and risk reduction counseling services; prevention activities; and, Expedited Partner Therapy services.
- Adult Viral Hepatitis Prevention Program (AVHPP): Provides screening for Hepatitis B and C through community providers; hepatitis A and B vaccination for high risk adults is provided through partner clinics and WyVIP (Wyoming Vaccinates Important People) providers; HIV/STD/Viral Hepatitis training for healthcare providers; and referral for care and medication assistance for treatment of hepatitis C patients.
