Robby and I have been together exclusively for 7 years. We met in high school. Shortly before graduation I became pregnant. We have a 6 year old child. Robby left after an argument and we agreed to separate. I thought that Robby had other sex partners during our six month break. I didn’t know how to approach him about using condoms because I was afraid he would think that I was having sex and might “have something”. After we made up, we had sex. I noticed there were some odd looking bumps in his pubic area. We went to the free clinic and found out he had ‘warts’. I don’t have them but I’m afraid of getting them.

I have had only one other sex partner besides Robby. After being diagnosed with warts, Robby was extremely concerned for me. He was very cooperative with the clinic nurses who treated him and offered advice on how to prevent the HPV from spreading. Robby now insists that he and I use condoms, knowing that HPV may still spread from uncovered areas, and so far after 4 months I haven’t developed signs or symptoms of HPV.
